Variations:
- Add 1/2 cup frozen peas or frozen mixed vegetables, 1 cup sliced carrots or chopped broccoli to the pot with the uncooked onions and macaroni.
- Add 1/2 cup chopped cooked ham, chopped pepperoni, sliced hot dogs, or chopped and cooked chicken with the cheese and milk.
- 2 tbsp chopped onion
- 8 slices sharp shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 2/3 cup dried corkscrew macaroni (rotini) or elbow macaroni
- 3/4 cup milk
- salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
Directions:
- On a cutting board cut the onion into small pieces (you should end up with 1/3 cup)
- Cook macaroni in the saucepan following the package directions, except add the onion with the macaroni so they can cook together. When macaroni is cooked remove from heat and drain.
- Return macaroni back to the pan and stir in the cheese, milk, and a dash of salt pepper. When the cheese is melted, sprinkle the parmesan on top.
